The Adventures of Skinning up a Mountain

Written by Kyra Demla | Jan 10, 2021 9:32:47 PM

Winter Park Resort has successfully been able to host skiers and riders daily this winter, even with the current state of the Covid-19 pandemic. It has been uplifting to see how the resort cares about the safety of visitors and employees, all while offering an enjoyable experience to skiers and riders. This helps fulfil the passion of Venturing Out for everyone seeking the mountain.

Winter Park Resort is also offering unique opportunities for new adventures, including a new Ski Uphill program. “Ski Uphill” you say? Have you ever wanted to try skinning up the mountain? It is a popular activity that combines an amazing workout and often times gives access to incredible terrane. This is a fun, new way to explore the mountain all while providing the opportunity to learn more about ski touring.

People who skin, or ski assent coin the term of ‘Earn Your Turns.’ This unique activity is offered under the safety of an experienced guide who will teach the skills of ascending up the mountain in a safe capacity. The ski tour includes the use of Dynafit (the best!) equipment, which provides boots, skis, skins and poles. The 3 hour tour will teach participants how to use the equipment and ascend up the mountain using the power of two feet on two skis. Once on top of the mountain, the reward of legendary Colorado Rocky Mountain and Continental Divide views can be had. The turns on the way down will definitely feel earned.

To book a reservation, email wpguides@winterparkresort.com. The Winter Park guides are extremely knowledgeable and ready to venture up the mountain with you! Guests can also cancel tours or activities with no penalties up to 7 days in advance of arrival, or can rebook for another date/season. The purchase does become non-refundable 7 days prior to arrival, however this is a carefree cancellation in case there are any changes to your vacation.

Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity to combine an amazing workout with your passion of skiing! The only downside, you might get hooked! Then you will want to venture uphill over and over again.
